Viva Melany and Darcy | Power to The Newlyweds
I met Melany and Darcy for the first time in a coffee shop in Birmingham and knew instantly that we were going to get along. Melany is from Chile and Darcy is a Brummie (good lad!), and they met as political students in Birmingham. They decided to split their wedding day between Dudley and Kings Heath, best of both worlds for family and friends.
Priory Hall is set within immaculately kept grounds with 12th century priory ruins. It was late May and it felt like the height of summer!
After shooting portraits set within the ruins, complete with a smoke bomb (purple for feminism), we got the whole gang together for some group shots in the sun.
There’s a whole lot of love between this close group of friends!
With transport laid on, we all made the journey over to Kings Heath, Birmingham. The Kitchen Garden Cafe is just over the road from The Hare and Hounds where UB40 had their first ever gig.
I just love Kitchen Garden’s higgledy piggledy layout. It feels like a rabbit warren, bursting full of flowers and veggies. It was the perfect place to sneak away with Melany and Darcy to capture some more portraits out of the sun, surrounded by gorgeous plants.
Then came the party. After some seriously emotional and hilarious speeches (my goodness can Darcy hold court!), then came a first dance with a difference. Hands up, who knows the moves to a traditional Chilean wedding dance! Don’t panic, Melany and Darcy have got it sorted… all they need is a handkerchief each, and off they go!
What a glorious wedding. Thank you for letting me be a part of your day.
